Prizes will be awarded for the following;

  • Best decorated boat - Yknot (determined by raffle).
  • Best decorated table - L'attitude/Possible Dream (by bar staff).
  • Winner of the "Selling Season series" - Mangrove Jack.
  • Winner of the "Investment series" - L'attitude (on count-back with 2 others on 39 points).
  • Winner of the last race - L'attitude (Determined by draw).

Cruising North 2019.
A short presentation and discussion on 5 Port Hacking yachts which cruised along the New South Wales and Queensland Coast from May till November 2019.
Topics covered are;

  • The Preparation and planning
  • Cruising the coast and islands
  • Highlights and Challenges

Attendees are encourage to arrive at 6 pm and pre-order meals to be ready for a 7:30pm finish.

Discover Sailing Day

Port Hacking Sailing is proud to join Australian Sailing and fellow yacht & sailing clubs nationwide to offer a day for everyone to "Discover Sailing"

Our Discover Sailing Day is designed to show members of the community just how much fun, how safe and how affordable sailing can be. It is a great way to find out if you would like to learn more about sailing, develop your skills and take up sailing as a sport or pastime.

We welcome you to our Club to enjoy a new activity, see our Shire from a different angle, join us for a bite to eat and to socialise with other fun-loving Shire residents!

As you will be sailing on a keelboat/yacht from 20ft (6m) to 50ft (15m) with an experienced crew we cannot cater for children under 18 years of age due to life jacket and parental/guardian requirements.

We provide the boats & safety equipment, along with a light lunch – all you have to do is wear comfortable clothes & enclosed non-marking shoes, bring a hat, some sunscreen and bucket loads of enthusiasm!

A dedicated host will welcome you to the Club, answer any questions about sailing and ensure you have an enjoyable and safe day out.

We highly recommend that you register online in advance to secure your spot!

Wattamolla 21-July-2019

Met at Jibbon cardinal mark at 11am for the final go ahead on VHF73. We had many last minute cancellations, however, Excentric joined us after along absence and a new boat Cordila a seawind 850 skippered by Glenn Fogarty. New boats were helped in by the laying of port and starboard marks and all anchored without difficulty in at least 3 metres of water. We had 7 boats in all and enjoyed lunch in perfect winter conditions.

At 1330 the ex Master (retired) managed to get all ashore for some camaraderie and pictures (seen above). At 1430 the crew were ferried back to their respective boats for the return cruise. Most motored but at least 2 sailed in light northerly conditions. Most boats were safely back in port by 1600. I believe a great day was had by all.

Hi John, Thanks so much for organising Sunday's cruise to Watamolla. It was a beautiful day and we thoroughly enjoyed exploring the area as well as spotting a whale or two and a seal sunning himself too. Please find here a couple of photos we took on the day. Whale Watch 9-June-2019

Whale Watching and Raft up for Hot Pies and Beer at Jibbon on Sunday 9th June
Suggest we venture south initially and move north as far as Cape Solander. Please listen and call on VHF 16/73 for updates or sightings. Or Contact Alistair Rowe on 0432424629
Whales require 'personal space', and harassment may severely stress them – possibly causing accidents both for humans and whales if the whales feel threatened.
This is especially important in the case of the adults with calves, which may be either resting or suckling.
Research has shown that whales are highly sensitive to engine noises.
You should also be aware that during the mating season, males competing for females may engage in rough physical contact.
All whale watching yachts are to keep within the guidelines set down by National Parks.
This means that we must not go within 100m of the whale (or 300 if with calf) and do not disturb their migration.

All are welcome and what a great opportunity to bring sons, daughters, wives and husbands along to listen to this inspiring young woman. There will be a $20 collection which goes directly to Lisa to fund her work.
Lisa first discovered boats when she was 22, working as a hostess on a sailing boat in the Whitsundays, yet had sailed around the world by the time she was 27 clocking up over 50,000 nautical miles. By then, she'd already decided her natural step forward would be to go solo and this has seen her add another 20,000 nautical miles to her experience.
Lisa comments "I now love the solo aspect of sailing and that there's no one else to rely on. If I don't get up and check the instruments or fix what's broken, there's no one else to pick up the slack. For me it's the challenge of keeping both myself, and Climate Action Now together."

Hi John, Thanks soooo much for the hospitality!!! Great day!!! We enjoyed it immensely. Catch you on the next one, Matt, Kylie, Nikki, Chris and Olivia. Team defiance, 1972 Sparkman and Stephens design built by my father. We going to restore her and hopefully join in with your fun!!!  (3 generations on 4th generation built boat)

Thank you to everyone who shared the beautiful weather, the beautiful scene of the yachts sailing on the Broad Water, the Rousing Renditions of Watlzing Matilda and many other songs, accompanied by the great talent of “The BAND”. A very special Thank You to you John and Margaret for inviting us  to the Broad Water Boat Shed and surrounds and making it possible for us to all enjoy a BBQ lunch, Anzac Biscuites a few Beers and a couple of Wines and to celebrate the very special part of our history. ANZAC Day.

Comments from the day
OH My you have done it again, John What a GREAT Day.
Thank You to John and Margaret for opening up their Broadwater Yacht Club to over 60 people. The Yacht race was “slow” but a magnificent sight from the shore. The land entertainment was the BEST so thank-you to all of you who participated and EXTRA Special thanks to the BAND which made the afternoon so enjoyable. From the Captain and Crew of Possible Dream.

The Band
Consisted of 3 guitar players, Andy Chilton, Steve Chilton and Brian Etherington also the singer and at short notice Dave crew on Inception.
We appreciate the band breaking a busy schedule playing at many charity outings including the Woolooware Shores retirement village, and a number of gigs at The Southern Antique Centre at Kogarah. The band was the glue that brought it all together.
Contributions
Libby Teiffel produced the song sheets which made sure everybody could join the singing, and how we did?
We had many performances from the audience ranging from stories, poems, trivia, songs and a well considered contribution from Tony Parker.
When you (click here) on the pictures above, you can see a broad smiles on all the faces, so I suppose we did well?
Many thanks, to all that helped with chairs and tables and I have to say followed the mooring instructions.
I estimate that we had in excess of 70 attending.
